Those Tired Offline Strategies Will Not Work Online Either When Building a Home Based Business

It may sound like a weird title but believe me your success depends on you figuring out the relevance. Making a “warm list” and inviting them to a home presentation or to a hotel meeting is the first offline strategy most people learn. This limited personal contact list will run out quickly.

So, the next step quite predictably would be to go online and buy leads from a lead generation site or a genealogy list which is a list of marketers from a failed network marketing company. There is a multitude of problems with these options.

The leads you buy have probably been sold before and really are not very targeted to start with which means they are low quality and full of people who cannot or will not invest any money to start a home based business. Basically just tire kickers looking around with no intention of spending any money.

Then the genealogy list may be a list of marketers who are open to the concept but there is no way to know how long ago they signed up. These lists are from defunct companies but there may be people on the list who signed up years ago and never made any money in the business. Since they could be years old there will be lots of phone numbers and addresses that are no good any more. There could be as many as 80% of the contacts that are no good.

Even if the leads list and the genealogy list have some good contact information, you have no way of knowing if those people are already into something. Calling them will still be like cold calling them because they do not know you and did not find YOU online and leave their information for you to contact them.

This is one of the most crucial points of lead generation and building a business. The Law of Attraction comes into play when you practice Attraction Marketing. It is all about positioning yourself where those who are looking for what you have can find you. That is the key difference between marketing with attraction marketing or using those “old school” offline methods that start with the “warm list” and graduate to the “three foot rule” and buying leads online.

If you are chasing friends and relatives about your opportunity they mat think of you as a pest but if someone who is searching for what you have, finds you first, they will consider you an expert or a leader.

If you try to take your business online and do not learn attraction marketing you will be making some common mistakes that can actually damage your chances of success. By making contacts or friends on Facebook, MySpace, Youtube, or any other social site and sending them your company links you are doing the same things as the offline “three foot rule.”

These people did not ask for what you have first so they really have no interest and in fact are turned off by your “selling” to them. You have to build relationships and, as with other attraction marketing principles, you have to wait until they ask you what you do or what company you are with. You get them to ask by building relationships and helping them solve their problems.

People do business with those they like and trust. You have to help them with their problems so they will like you. If the solutions you provide for them work then they will come to trust you. It is the same way with your team members. Once they have joined you in your business you have to help them by giving them your best strategies. Helping them succeed is the key to your business.

Get in the habit of helping everyone you come in contact with and you are on the way to being the leader you will have to be to succeed in this industry. Become a leader that YOU would hire and others will want to join you.
