Turn Junk Mail Into Money

If you are going to stay on top of the latest strategies or learn what industry leaders are doing, you need to attend business conferences. It is a great place to pick up great strategies that fit with what you are already doing. Sometimes you hear of a strategy that is so simple you cannot believe you never thought of it. That is what happened to me at a recent business conference for MLM Lead System PRO which is a lead generation and marketing training system that has been going crazy with member enrollments in the last year.

This guest speaker, who is one of the system leaders, told how he has been using junk mail and getting 15 to 20 people enrolled per year. That doesn’t sound like much but, when you consider how little time it takes and the cost, every little bit adds up. He doesn’t even have any time in it because he gets his kids to do it for him. He makes it part of their chores for earning their allowance.

When he goes through his mail he takes out all the promotional envelopes that are sent to him that say “No postage necessary when mailed in the United States” and puts them in a stack.

You know, the ones they want you to mail your application back in. Once it is in your mailbox though, you can do whatever you want with it.

Why not use these free marketing tools that someone graciously supplied you with? You have to sort your mail anyway. You can put your own ad in the envelope and mail it back.

The person who opens these envelopes is a mail clerk stuck in a mail room and may be looking for a better way to earn a living. What better way to stick it to those companies that send out junk mail than to recruit their mail clerks into your business using their postage paid envelopes?

The ad you use could be a business card or a handwritten note but an even more professional ad would be a drop card. This is custom printed, so it is about your business and it is called a drop card because, if you dropped it, most people will, out of curiosity, pick it up.

The best ones look like a $100 bill that has been folded up. The ones I use are actually 2/3rds the length of real money so when you fold it in half it looks convincingly like a folded $100 bill.

If you use every junk mail return envelope that gets mailed to your house every day, it could be 75 to 80% of all your mail. That gives you a lot of chances to send out some free advertisements. When you are trying to build a network marketing business, you have to use every strategy you can think of that you can afford because the name of the marketing game is massive exposure.

This is a great tool because there is no one it will not work on. Some people will hold on to it to show their friends or because it is a bit of a novelty. But, if they throw it down, it will be blown around in the wind until someone else sees it and then it will be picked up again.

So, what would you do if you saw a $100 bill laying on the ground? If you didn’t say “pick it up” you would need your head examined. You pick it up and unfold it and inside it says something like this: “Disappointed? Don’t be! I can show you how to earn 20 to 30 real ones per month.”, ” Start your own home based business and Fire you boss”, “The #1 home based business period.”

Of course, you would also put your website address and your email address in there too. Just be creative and, once delivered, keep some with you all the time. It is lots of fun when you get to see someone pick one up.

Some people even use them as business cards. You can have whatever you want printed on the inside because they are custom made. A business card like this would get some attention. It would be pretty unique. In advertising, uniqueness is much sought after.

It is nuggets like this that everyone should keep an ear out for all the time. Sometimes you will hear of strategies that just have poetic justice written all over them. With a minimal investment of money for drop cards and separating one part of your trash, you are now using another company’s postage to send a promotion to someone who is clearly in your target market.
